Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. The birds can fly and climb, hang and flap, hop and run, jump and play All the animals, including the birds who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt maimed broken hearted or ignored, are made whole and strong again. Their fur shines, their feathers and wings are whole, just as we remember them in our dream of days and times gone by. They are all happy and content, even the grouchiest greys, except for one small thing, they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run, play and fly together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run or fly from the group over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster, or he will be flying away from the group, over the green grass, his wings flapping harder and harder. He shrieks to you and then calls your name and his own and cries again and again. You have been spotted And when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head. Your face is covered with beak nibbles, and soft kisses. Your hair is preened by that special beek. and his head bends under your fingers to invite your touch. You look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Your tears of joy are gently brushed away by those beloved wings, and feeling immersed once more in total contentment and love. You and your beloved pet or pets will now cross Rainbows Bridge together...... Original author unknown edited by Ellen Schloss 9/28/01

Our babies at the bridge waiting for us to join them - they are all missed by their loved ones and in our hearts and souls daily
Shawn 1974 - 10/28/88 Long Coat Chihuahua My Shawn was a rescue dog, I met him the day they were going to put him down, at a shelter in Reno Nevada. We were best friends for the next 14 years. We went everywhere together, he even rode in a basket on my 10 speed bicycle. He loved playing tricks on me, as I fell for them every time. He had me wrapped around his little paw. Until we meet again Shawn by Ellen Schloss

Sammy 1992 -8/26/01 Sammy My little StinaCakes - he was my sweetest little baby bird. He used to ride on my shoulders when I was not working, he would go for rides with me in the car, he would be so excited he would sing like a crow the minute we went outside. He ate right off my dinner plate, and anybody else that may be at the dinner table with us. Sammy was in charge of all the dogs, he had one dog so scared that he ran and hid under the covers in the bed. He was my special little boy, what a character -he would never allow anyone to get close to me or my shoulders. My friend used to say that for such a tiny brain it was filled with jealousy! We shared so much love and happiness in the time we were together. Sammy was a rescue bird and came to me in 1994 - love at first site! I miss you so much my little Sambolina - until we meet again Sammy by Ellen Schloss

Shelby 1988 -8/28/01 Shelby my little Shelbystone, came to me as a rescue in 1990 at 2.5 years old from Brockton MA. He was my bud, my best bud, such a good little baby, always there when I need him, always ready to shower me with kisses. He hated riding in the car, even after many trips across country to Reno Nevada, he still hated the car. As time went on, I got into Rescue, and Shelby would watch all the little chihuahuas coming and going, he was so patient with them. He then became the food police, had to be sure all the food was gone from all the dishes. Because of Shelby's aging and the problems he was experiencing, I knew that he would let me know when he wanted to go to the bridge, and he did- Shelby I know you are with Shawn and Sammy right now, please don't give Sammy a hard time, as he is a character and means no harm. Please take good care of yourself and them for Mommy. Until we meet again Shelby by Ellen Schloss
Ginger - 8 years old, when she went to the bridge. She came to me as my first foster, never even being to the vet until I took her. She had never been outside, until she came to me. The seasons she experiencing, were just not enough. She never saw the Spring, never felt the days warming up, and the sun staying up longer. Never saw the Snow as she went to the bridge in November of 2000 She was taken from me way to soon. She is very much missed by me and my DaisyBug by Ellen Schloss
Gimpy - with me for such a short time, but I know that he was loved and held right up until the last possible second. Gimpy came to me as a foster, his stomach was hard like a rock, he could barely stand up- He was diagnosed with Liver Cancer, and in a tremendous amount of pain. He is with Ginger at the bridge, no more cancer -romping and playing as he should be. by Ellen Schloss

Blazer was a puppy we rescued believe it or not from the euthanasia room. My husband had taken me to get a dog and the man at the pound brought me to a room where all the dogs were barking and crying. I looked at all of them and talked to all of them. Then the man said I will be right back. I saw a door partially open and I thought it was another room of animals, but it was not. I saw a little black pup with a white chest in the cage and he was crying so I undid the caged and picked him up. I was not supposed to be in that room, but I was not letting go of the dog. My husband convinced him to let me have that dog. So that was it, my Blazer - Part husky part black lab, great dog and excellant watchdog. But more than that he was my friend. He became diabetic 4 years ago and had been on insulin injections twice daily. 2 years ago he was diganosed with having a tumor in his lung. The tumor was what finally caused his demise. I was with him at the end, he went so peacefully and so calmly. No fear no regrets - he loved me and I loved him and I know he is free of pain and can see again. by Michele (enrayge)

| Bandit - came into my life in 1983. He was a beautiful bird, and an amazing friend. I can't even begin to sum the 18 1/2 wonderful years we spent together. I wouldn't know where to start, he meant the world to me. On October 5,2001 he found his way to the Bridge. Although is actual age is unknown, as a result of countless blood tests it is believed that he was well above middle age at the time of his passing. He passed due to kidney faulure. That day was one of the hardest days I had to face. I sat by his side until the end, repeatedly telling him it was OK to go. God gave him such beautiful, beautiful wings and now was his time to use them. Now was his time to spread his wings and soar the heavens. So bandit my baby although I miss you dearly, I know you are enjoying the freedom that was meant for you. In my heart I know our time will come again. | Little Taco/Mo has gone to the bridge, reasons are unknown. Dawn came home from work, and he was lethargic, so she took him to the vet. Seems the doctor did nothing to find out the problem with Taco and he went to the bridge in the middle of the night only 2 years old, and was originally from Puerto Rico, and came to us as a SATO so he has had a rough life and I am glad that he had Dawn during his last year on this plateau. He found his love and happiness with Dawn |

Amelia - 2/10/2003 - Amelia was an older gal, have no idea how old, but older than 5 anyhow. SHe had been abused her entire life, we were totally unable to restore her faith in people. She knew and trusted 2 people myself and Dee. And even at that if we were to hold her longer than she wanted to be held, she would snap at us. It was a very sad day indeed on February 10, 2003, when i realized that maybe Amelia had a brain tumor, and it would be best for her to be PTS - I miss her terribly, but i know she is with Shelby, Sammy, Shawn, Ginger and Gimpy, and no more pain or anguish - but i do bet she is wanting to fight with them all, and they are laughing at her, as they all get together to wait for Mom Ellen Schloss

Yellow - 1986 - 2003 I got Yellow at age 3 from an ACO friend of mine. (on left) he was considered "not placeable" Needless to say I took him in.He was very food aggressive and other dog aggressive. The only dog he ever made an exception to is the dog i had at the time. My beloved Blazer who passed away 10/31/01 - (See Above)They always got along. My family and i worked with Yellow through his issues and he was a wonderful dog. He lived to an unbelievable age of 17. i would like to commerate Yellow especially because he oncre saved my life. There was a rottweiler who had gotten loose and the lady who owned him, came over and I was trying to assist her by kkeeping my dogs from scaring him. (My dogs were both tied at the time) The rottweiler caught siite of me and lunged at me- Yellow then returned the lunge, broke his chain and had the dog byt the throat and was slamming him from side to side. I was so scared the Yellow would hut the dog, i just reached in and put my arm in yellows mouth to make him release (I know what all of you are thingking, dumb!) But at the time i didn't know what else to d.. thankfully i kknew my dog and it worked. I owe a great debt to my Yellow friend. He will be sadly missed .. go in peace to the bridge and wiat for me old friend.. Blazer is there to meet you Love Michele
Unlike most days at Rainbows Bridge, this day dawned cold , gray and damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before. But the animals who had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to the bridge to watch. It wasn;t long before an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away., for they had seen this happen far too often. He approached slowly, obviously in Great emotional pain , but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all the other animals waiting at the bridge this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward teh bridge, he watched all the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he could cross ove, the happier he would be. But alas, as he approached the bridge, , his way was abarred by the appearance of an Angel who apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those animals who were with their people could pass over Rainbow Bridge. With no place else to turn to , the elderly animal turned towards the fields before The Bridge, and saw a group of other animals like himself, also elderly and infrim. They weren't playing, but rather simply lying on the green grass, forlornly staring out at the pathway leading to The Bridge,. And so he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting. One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge didn't understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animlas that had been there for a while to explain it to him. You see, that poor animals was a rescue. He was turned in to rescue just as you can see him now, an older animals with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existance. Because he had no family to give his love to, hqe has no one to escort him accross The Bridge. The first animals thought about this for a minute and then asked, So what will happen now? As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted anbd the gloom lifted. Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals , a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life. Wtach and see, said the second animal. A second group of animsl from those waiiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and followed him towards The Bridge together. What Happened? That was a rescuer, The animals you saw bowiing in respect were those who found new homes because of his work. Tehy will cross when their new families arrive. those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform on final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that they couldn't place on eath across the Rainbows Bridge Author Unknown

This little darling baby Spectacled Amazon, just 4 weeks old and coming to rescue, we named him Jack. he came in on Sunday 3/16/03 both he and Jill, came in together. During a feeding some food started to come out his nostrils, plus i noticed a scab on his little chest. Well we took him to the vet and the scab was a crop burn, that needed to be stitched up. We left them overnight, and when i went to pick them up in the morning Jack had already gone to the bridge. The necropsy showed enlarged heart and liver. I know Jack you are a young healthy bird flying around and haveing a great time, with full use of your legs. Maybe you can look for Sammy, and he will show you the way. Till we meet again little baby bird by Ellen Update - Jill Joined Jack at the bridge, shortly after he went to his new home. So they are both flying freely now and i just know that Sammy is showing them the ropes up there as they wait for me

Fred - Unsure of his Date of Birth, however Fred was about 9 or 10 years old, when we got him out of the shelter. He tested positivie for Heart Worms and was in the advanced stages. His heart was not strong enough to handle treatment. So Lori just let him enjoy whatever time he had left with us. The time came when Fred stopped eating, and could barely move out of his own way, so we took him in and let him go with Dignity.

Lolita, approcimately 2 years old, came to us july 18,2003 just shortly after she had been found along side the road. Yes she was hit by a car and left there! Luckily thee good people at Hartford CT shelter fouund her and we arranged transport to our rescue. we knew that she had pelvis injuries, and were planning on getting her x-rayed on Monday 7/28/2003 at the same time she was being spayed. She hadd her shots updated on Thursday 7/24/2003 andd went down hill from that point on. I thought she had a reaction to the shots, but after emergency x-rays and blood work, on 7/27/2003 we discovered that all her organs were in the wrong place In order to fix her it would have rquired major surgery to her chest and abdomen to put things back where they belong. The doctor said there would be no way she would survive the surgery, due to lack of muscle tone and fat. plus the dehydration. so I held this little darling baby in my arms, until she drifted off to the bridge. No she is no longer in pain from the horrible car accident, and happily playing with all our other angels on the bridge by Ellen

In Memory of Tike Bono 1995 to 7/30/2003 TIke's prior owner had passed away, so he along with some cats were all brought to a shelter> All were seniors. None of the cats were adopted but Tike was reescued from the shelter by Papillon Rescue and taken to Denver Colorado. His photo and story was posted on a senior e-mail listing. My boss Tom Bono had wanted a papillon for years. I saw Tike's photo and fell in love with him. Long story short, Tom ended up adopting Tike in January of 2003. Every day he came to work with Tom and came to his Auntie Nadine's home twice for a week with the girls while Tom went on vacation. Just last week he was with me. I didn't think he seemed right. Thought it could be depression because Tom had gone away. Anyway, even when came home - he didn't react as happy as we both expected. So Tom took him to the vet . They did some blood work and x-rays and sent him to Angel Memorial for an ultrasound. Angel Memorial diagnosed cancer. Did more tests during the night, i guess and when Tom called this AM, they told him cancer was all throught him and fluid also from the tumors. They put him on oxygen and fluids. They recommended euthanasia . I went with him and we got to say good by. Tom then took him to Ange l View Pet Cemetary where he will be cremated. He will scatter his ashes where they used to walk in the back of his house. Tom and Tike were like soul mates from the minute they met, loving each other unconditionally from day one By Nadine

Ginger - 1990 - 11/24/03 I had to take my Ginger to be put down as she has succombed to Lyme's Disease. SHe had a clinical case of it some months back and even though we went through the antibiotic treatment, she had never really been the same since. It started to take a toll on her mind, her muscles and joints, and Sunday she was shaking her head and it would make her fall. She was so scared, she had forgotten how to eat and it was time. She would have been 14 in January . Good bye to another one of my beloved pets. by Michelle (Enrayge)

BamBam - 1995 - 11/28/03 What a little love bug he was. He came to us as a stray very very thin, but appeared to be very active and have lots of life left in him. We knew he had a grade III heart murmer, but didn't realize that the grade III had become a grade V until after the adoption. We then brought him back in for more testing and discovered that he had advanced kidney failure and was also anemic. We decided the best thing to do was to set him free, and have him go to the bridge where he will be pain free by Ellen Schloss

Pumkin 1987 - 12/01/03 - this little girl was such a sweetie, even though she was afraid to be touched by me or anybody else. well I finally was able to touch her little head and give her kisses, i sure hope she felt the love i had for her. as she was drifting off to the bridge. She was found on the streets of NY as a stray and came to me in August of 2003. She had many problems one of which was misdiagnosed. after getting a second opinion, i found out that her chasing her tail was actually grand mal seizures 5 to 6 times a day. In addition to that she had severe arthrittis and had difficulty walking. SHe is no longer in pain, and I am sure that by now she has met up with Shawn, Shelby, Sammy, Ginger and Gimpy till we meet again little pumkin by Ellen Schloss

He came into the Taunton Shelter, and in a matter of days, won my heart. His sweet little face, wagging tail, and tiny doggie kisses would always make me smile He was adopted about a month after he came to the shelter, and unfortunately did not get to enjoy more than a week in his new home with his new Mom, when it was discovered he was full of cancer. Oliver went to Rainbow Bridge in the arms of his new Mom and knowing he was loved by many of us. GOod Bye, Sweet Oliver - I loved you lots By Nadine |

He caught Kennel Cough there, which turned into pneumonia, shortly after Kerry adopted him. I am so happy that Kerry adopted him, and gave him a week of being cared for and more love than he had ever known in his life. He was scheduled to have some dental work this month, and it is sad that his quality of life was so bad, that he was better off going to the bridge. where he would no longer suffer. | Baby Jane 12/28/95 - 5/29/01 Baby Jane was my very first rescue, and the first quaker i ever laid eyes on., She was naked as a jaybird, had beautiful, sexy chicken leg. I brought her home 3 days after Christmas at the age of 6 She didn;t talk, she didn't move, and had been in a dark room all alone for 2 years. Within a week of having her at our house, she was saying her name again, in a very computer like voice. 2 days later, my husband ventured in to take out this bird, who we were told was a terrible biter. Harry does construction work so his hands are calloused and don't feel much pain. This man, when i first brought Baby Jane home, wanted to know how long the naked bird was going to be here. I was afrid to tell him i had commited to her. That Saturday he came home from work and decided to take her out. She first pecked at him, then came running up his arm, tugging at his mustache, where a little bit of pizza was sitting. That moment was love at first sight, and it became a daily ritual. I might get a kiss first when he cam home, but then it was straight to Jane for kisses and an afternoon snack. She learned to speak in his voice, and also in mine. She had conversations with us and would follow us around the house. He taught her to show us her pretty feathers, and she would sleep in all of our hands on her back. She would do a dance and also sing for us. Shet stole a place in the heart of everyone in my family and everyone that she met. To this day I have never met any bird that could compare to my little naked ladu. She taught my other 2 quakers how to sing and dance also. She was th ring leader of my flock, her entire time with us. She was also my intrudction to the rewards of a rescue can be and at the same time how unique and loving they can be. there will never be another bird like her. by Tami |

Freddie - 1991 - 1/22/2004 - Mini Dachsie, short squatty legs, brownish red, I would say a mix of smooth and wire hair. He was actually a hansome little boy, despite having frostbitten jaggered ears. His personality and spunkiness made up for this imperfection. Freddie came to our household throu Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue, expecting to be neutered and fully vetted, before placing for adoption. However his health prevented him from being adopted. So Freddie joined the Ruscetta houselhold with 5 other dogs, and mixed right in. Freddie had an enlarged heart and valves, prognosis of not eve a year to live despite medication. However with medication and acupuncture, he did live for 1 1/2 years. have owned and fostered many dogs, but, Freddie impacted our family in such a loving appreiative way the he will be missed for a long time. it does make you wonder though, how after 11 years a dog could be dumped off at a shelter, knowing that ultimatley that the dog would die there by Sandi Ruscetta

Spooky - aka Mr. Spook 1995 - 2004 Spooky came to rescue with his neck chewed up from another dog, luckily Emma was able to get him fixed up beforehand. He just needed to get away from big dogs, and have a place to recuperate. This little guy just loved to bite, no matter what we did, that was his favorite thing to do, sometimes he would just go into a frenzy, he would get so angry. But he also had that very sweet side of him, that made you love him and accept the biting. Spooky was with me for about 8 months before he was adopted. He would bite his new people too, but they were able to see the sweet spooky as i was. Pretty soon, i got pictures of Spooky with a life jacket on, sailing on a sail boat of all things! boy did he love that. Towards the end of January 2004 spooky developed cancer of the pancreas and went to the bridge 4 days later. He is missed by everybody that has known him. what a character. by Ellen

Hayli - 1993 - 2004 My sweet beautiful SHeltie, My little Haylie, My happy little girl. How yyou added so much love, laughter and happiness to my life. I shall miss so very many things about you. Your always smiling, beautiful face, Your sweet little doggie kisses for me and your "sisters". Posing for photo's and letting me dress you up in silly cstumes, making everyone smile when they met you as you came over and sat on their feet, while loking up at them with your sweet brown eyes-- waiting for the pats you knew would come next. Always running around the corner as you heard the treat bags or jars opening and patiently waiting for something good to eat. Licking clean every dog dish in the house--not missing a single crumb Lying there with your head resting on the top step, as you waited for me to come up the cellar stairs. CHasing squirrels and birds and trying to steal the bread left for the birds. Barking at motorcycles and having ian intense fear of thunderstorms.Enjoying the cool breeze of your very own fan and letting it blow on oour tummy. Diving into one of the big fluffy dog beds like it was a pile of leaves and then rolling all around on it. Laying on your back and pretending to ride a bike with your legs going a mile a minute. For a reason I cannot understand, your life on earth was suddenly ove in a matter of minutes. But you will live forever and ever in my heart and I will love and miss you always By Nadine

Story of 5 young puppies - One night late I got a call from a lady in Ohio, talking about 5 young puppies that were scheduled to be Euthanized or gassed, would I please take them? she said there was a transport going out the next day to Massachusetts, and she could have them on the transport to me. The Paperwork was to follow the next day, dogs were vetted and dewormed. Well these little sweeties arrived all happy and bouncing around as puppies should be, appeared to be in excellant health. Within a few days Puppy Nathan died and Puppy Sosa was being treated for massive amount of worms at Linwood Animal Hospital. We used puppy Nathan's body to do an autopsy to see what we were dealing with- all we found were worms, there was not even a hint of a stool to do a sample with. Next day I took Puppy Harry to Wakefield animal hospital where Nathan was. After several days of being in intensive care at the hospital they also discovered Parvo Virus as well as the worms. In the mean time the other 2 puppies died as well. Puppy Harry was in the Hospital for about 12 days, getting blood transfusions and all the love and care that he so deserved. I thought this is quite the little fighter, and hoped that he would survive this horrible virus. Everybody at the hospital loved him as I did. I went to visit him the day before he died, such a tiny little body with all those tubes keeping him alive, hoping he would be strong enough to fight until he was out of danger. By Friday the 6th of August, he could no longer fight, and joined his 4 littler mates at Rainbows Bridge. till we meet again little puppies By Ellen

The babies listed below are very special babies - they all have a very similar background. These dogs were all taken from shelters by rescue organizations, organizations that care. what they have in common is that they were all at least 10 to 15 years of age, with various health problems. their prior owners have either dumped them into cold shelters or they threw them away into trash cans. this practice must be stopped. They have all gone to the bridge, being held by strangers, people that they might not have known for more than a day or so. We console ourselves by saying at least she had a little bit of time with somebody loving her and holding her, and that they are no longer suffering. why was it the owners could not see them through thier senior years? Have we become so selfish that we can only think of ourselves, and not care about our 4 legged furry friends? it is an embarassment to see what the human race has done.
Mitzey -- went to the bridge on 1/10//05- her body was filled with tumors, she needed medication for her eyes, as she had dry eye in both eyes. She was unable to do poop even as there were tumors on her butt! she was thrown in a trash can. maybe 12 or 14 years old by ellen 1/14/05
Penny - went to the bridge 12/31/04. she came from a shelter as well, also with many tumors. they were removed, however the larger one covered up a good part of her stomach. she went to the bridge shortly after the surgery. Over 10 years of age by Ellen 1/14/05
Tina - went to the bridge on 1/2/05 at least 12 years old! she was deaf and blind, almost emaciated. she too was dumped in a shelter, to spend her last few months with strangers. she was here a couple of months when her body just basically shut down, and she died in her sleep. by Ellen 1/14/05

Suger - 01/15/05 - Sugar got his name because he used to love and sit on my desk at work.... I always had sugar packets on my desk in a box. he could work that thing open in order to rip the sugar packets to bits.. so he came to be called sugar. He could spy a sugar packet a mile away! This little bird who was left on my desk at work 9 years ago, from who knows? we had no idea how old he was, vet guessed maybe 7? This little bird gave joy to nursing home residents in my activity room for 5 years. They loved him, he helped with the mail, he played with people, they taught him to speak, he whisled the whole theme from Mayberry, he was a riot. When i retired he came home with me and retired also, he fit right in with the rest of the flock! He loved anyone who came in the door- he ate well - pellets, good foods, and his seed mix. He wuold kiss and kiss making the kissy sounds. Yesterday he wanted to be with me most of the day. calling me or flying to me when ever he saw me, this morning when i put him away to go to church, he kissed me and said hello Sugar, and i was a pretty bird. My cag Twia loved sugar, all afternoon he has been calling him, he has been m aking sugars sounds and tweets. Alexia my other cag kissed my tears that i was shedding for Sugar, Sugar was with me for 9 years, not hardly long enough. He probably was 17 - he now is at rest with my lhasa Apso in the flower bed. My heart is so heavy with grief, goodby my little beautiful love - fly free and wait for me. If tears could build a stairway, and memories a Lane, I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again by Nan-c 1/20/05

Binky -- 2/05 - he had a rough life in Taunton, being tied outside. (we realized this when we saw that he would run backwards at the end of his leash, thinking he would untangle himself) running loose on the streets and being picked up by the dog warden. He was severely neglected, his remaining teeth were so rotted that it had poisoned his whole body. It was at that point that we rescued him. He received the best medical care that the vet could provide. He had a collapsed trachea that took a turn for the worse a few weeks ago, and even with the trial of different meds, his condition worsened. The last few nights, my husband and I took turns sitting with ihim in our arms to ease his breathing, he was struggling so. By Monday morning I knew he needed to go to the bridge. You could see it in his eyes, he was asking to go. I held him in my arms in his little sweater, and he just went peacefully. Binky was only with us for five months, but he touch the hearts of all who met him. We loved him so much and miss him so much. I still can't stop crying, the house is quiet without that little Yorkie boy, we called him "bossy britches". He was a wonderful dog who deserved a much better life than the one given to him. I am so happy that the last months of his little life he felt unconditional love from us . Binky, we will always love and miss you, you were such a special boy! by Paula 2/8/05
Pearl AKA Armadillo Pearl came to us on a sunny day in mid july of 2004. She had very little hari and was wary of her new surroundings. She joined our family at somsend and found herself sister to a Peke named Herman who wanted little to do with her, and a feisty Tibbie named Bazel whom she followed around like a shadow. Pearl, we soon learned, was cvery vocal - especially at bedtime when the rest of us had settled down to sleep We never knew such ferocious noises could come from such a little lass. But come they did, and soon were a night time ritual, we came to expect and enjoy. She learned the daily routine by following the lead of the two boys, and she was always ready to accompany Bazel on walks, following so close that she bumped into him when he stopped to sniff. Pearl had a voracious appetite, and as she filled out, her hair started to grow in. Pearl soon blossomed into a true beauty and looked stunning after her first trip to the groomers. As the holidays neard, Pearl donned her winter jacket and was alert and cooperative during the many photo opportunities that presented themselves. When Christmas came, it was a bittersweet day at Somersend, as we had learned a few days before that Pearl had cancer and would not be with us much longer. Pearl left us on a sunny day in mid march of 2005. Our littl jewel had gone from somersend leaving us with precious memories and taking wither a piece of our hearts by Kathy Wiggins
Daisybug - 11/01/90 - 04/12/2006 my sweet sweet little baby girl, what a little love she was. She stole everybody's hearts when they came in the house. SHe was loved by all, and will be missed by all, especially here at Beaks and Noses. Once SHelby had gone to the bridge, DaisyBug became the food police, she ate everything in site, gave all the other dogs a hard time, and let them know that I was her Mommie, not theirs. she was only 9 pounds, but boy did she let them know right away she was the boss here. My little sweetie, i am so sorry to lose you, but now you can see again, hear again, and most of all run with Shelby and Shawn. You can even chase Sammy if you want, but he will let you know he is the boss. - till we meet again Ellen Schloss
Kizzi AKA Kizz Kizz - - recovered lost bird deceased 12/12/06 - Hamburg PA Kizzi came to us at 9 months old 2 years ago last November 2006. I got him for a birthday gift. He was my first ever large bird. Being a young bird he allowed me to hold him and pet him. He had a horrible clipping and often hit the walls and doors when he did try and fly. so we allowed him to become a flighted bird and it was his joy to fly. He was a happy confident because he could fly and follow us. He never tried to fly out the door, but his death was an unfortunate freak accident. He whistled the Adams Family tune, 76 trombones, various short pieces of some classical (I learnede from an electric keyboard sample_ and he talked up a storm. He would laugh and ask what i though i was doing. He would fly down and graze my headwhen he was upset with me for not sharing my dentall floss or my dryer sheets - LOL He loved my dryer sheets@ He would lie on his back and talk to himself while he played with his toys in my tupperware cake server of all things. oh I loved that boy, he was my joy and my heart aches for him By Beth
Nigel - Toucan - 2002 - 2007 Somebody bought Nigel from a pet store when he was young, she kept him for 6 months and like many bird owners, could not h andle him anymore. A customer and a friend of mine named Debbie from my grooming shop saw an ad for him in the paper. She went there and bought him immediately just to get him out of there. He was in a small cage with pencils hanging to play with and syrupy fruit cups to eat at the bottom of his cage. Debbie bought him a huge cage and gave him a great home. Two years later she bought a new home and didn't have enough wall space in the new house for his cage, so she asked if i would like him Of course i said YES, as I had met him before and he was quite the charmer. Nigel was in the front office of my grooming shop.and loved the different people and dogs coming in everyday. He also loved to take baths , so we bought him a nice big bowl for his cage. Sadly at the young age of 5 we lost him to what the vet thinks was heart failure. One morning when I to work he was just sitting at the bottom of his cage, which was not like him at all. He didn't want to eat and was getting lethargis. When we got to the ver, they put him in an incubator and before they even got a chance to do anything on him, he had passed. Coincidently, my german shepherd died the week before of something similar, and those 2 were best buddies. Jake slept right next to Nigels cage every night, maybe nigel just wanted to be with his buddy and died of a broken heart, whos to say. Nigel will be missed by many and I will miss greeting my customers everyday with his quirky ways ny Lori Damaso
